I made 2 utils for your pleasure :p

dts2wav.exe convert a regular DTS stream into DTS/WAV stream (the WAV header is forced to 44.100Khz stereo 16 bits)

wav2dts.exe convert a DTS stream into regular DTS stream

I don't have any DTS receiver, so if someone could test this:

rip a DTS stream from a dvd
=> so this is a 48Khz DTS stream

convert this stream with dts2Wav.exe

burn it with nero for example

- play it on a Standalone DVD player connected to a DTS recevier.
what you hear ?

- play it (WinDVD?) on a PC connected to a DTS receiver via SPDIF
what you hear ?

- play it (WinDVD?) on a PC connected to nothing.
what you hear ?

Don't want to sound pessimistic, but I once did this manually (i.e. changed the header with CoolEdit Pro), and burned the 'fake' 44.1 kHz to a CD-R.

It played, but too fast (or too slow, don't remember).

Andreas

you mean with a standalone DVD player + DTS receiver ?

yes. I tried both ways: take a 48 kHz dts, changed the header to 44.1, and burned a CD-R. I also did the other route: took a 44.1 kHz dts-wav, changed the header to 48, authored a DVD-RW, and burned.

Changing the header was done in CoolEdit Pro.

Both played fine, but with wrong speed.

I haven't tried your tools yet, so maybe they work.
