View Full Version : Several problems with transcoding PVAs

Hello...
When I try to transcode PVAs with DVD2SVCD (1.1.3b2) sometimes crashes...

CCE is started, the files added as CBR 6000kbps
Then DVD2SVCD doesn't save the ECL and gets the error:

Access voilation at address 005F6349 in module 'DVD2SVCD.exe'.
Read of address 00000000.

An other Promlem which I sometimes have is with DVD2AVI. DVD2SVCD starts this program correct, but it doesn't create the projectfile.
And the progressbar of DVD2AVI is frozen on the left side.
The only chance is to start an other task of DVD2AVI at the same time and create the projektfile there...

Hi TKSoft2000,

I've the same problem. I don't have a solution in hand, but at least a simple workaround which works fine with me:

Wait for PVA2SVCD having called 'BeSweet', cancel PVA2SVCD and BeSweet. Restart PVA2SVCD, go to "Misc" tab, hit "Recover", select project file and hit 'Continue'. PVA2SVCD process passes CCE initial phase without problems and completes fine.

As I'm usually use 'frame selection' and/or edit the AVS manually after DVD2AVI processing, I'm at my machine at that point in time anyway so it's not a big extra work.

Alternatively, you may restart PVA2SVCD after the crash and Recover as described above.

As I wrote, both options work fine with me...

However, it seems to be a DVD2SVCD bug, let's wait for the next version.

regards,

Jo-Mo

Same Problem here (Version 1.2.1 b2)... the Workarounds are fine, but itīs quite disturbing for setting up batch processes ;-)
If this would get fixed sometime Iīd be glad :D

I need samples. Anybody up for that?

@dvd2svcd

Samples are a little bit problematic because if I'll give you a small file around 1-2 MB cPVAs will sometimes not demux it...

The best solution will be:
Take any MPEG2 Videostream:
normal MPV Video, and normal MPA for Audio.

Then download PVAstrumento http://www.offeryn.de/dv.htm
With the GUI-version you can create a PVA out of the MPG-file (make pva button), normally without any problems.

Ok, and that'll fail too ?

arthurfent2k

Most likely...I hope that itīs not hardware-specific ;-) If you can reproduce the Error at all, it will appear whith those "remuxed" Files as well.
EDIT: Maybe I should add that for me this only happens when recoding PVAs, for Divx and DVDs all is fine...

My Specs:

Athlon XP 2400+
ASROCK K7VT4-4X
TT Skystar 2
768 MB DDR333 (Infineon)
Win XP SP1
D2S 1.2.1 b2
CCE 2.5 (just to be safe I tried 2.66 and 2.67 too)
ProgDVB for PVARecording

Until now I have never found any working PVA!

At the moment I'm also creating a testfile for you, so we'll be able to find a solution for the problem today :-)

@dvd2svcd
You've got a PM with the link to my personal FTP-Server with a testfile (1,5MB 7-Zip, unpacked 525MB PVA).
