View Full Version : Optional subtitiles in SVCD?
- I got the video file: 35min Mpeg2, 480x480, 23.976fps, CBR 2520kbps, 1 audio track Layer-2 44100Hz 224kbps.
- I got too the .sub + the bitmaps with MaestroSBT.
- Then I mux both with Winsubmux without problems or error message.
I heard that unless I want to add menus and chapters this is the last step before to create the image and burn the SVCD with Nero. So, is it possible view this file with subtitles before burn it? because I tried with Windvd and Powerdvd (SVCD playerS) but without success,
I see just the video but the subtitles are not available.

i think you can do it whit some players but i prefer to burn a small part on a cd-rw
I tried burning a sample in a cdrw but it's the same, the subtitles appear blocked, it's weird because when I analyse the video file before and after burn the svcd in winsubmux (SVCD info & time to file size=>Analyze) the program show me the subtitle streams and all seems to be right, I don't know what's happening.

i don't know if what i m going to say can happen but are the subs in the viewable area of the movie? (maestro->preview).
i have tried winsubmux but it didn'work for me.try submux to add the subs.i run the prog in dos prompt.put submux.exe(command line no gui),xxx.sub xxx.bmp xxx.mpg in the folder and then from dos prompt
c:\path to the folder you have them all>submux.exe -s 0 yourmpg.mpg yoursubs.sub newnameforyoursubbedmovie.mpg->enter
0=the 1st place for subs since svcd supports 4 subs.
give all the files short names eg starwars=sw .
are the subs on your stand alone dvd player on?
is the timing of your subs right?
are the fps of maestro set right?
@Ryo94
Did your player support subtitles?

are the fps of maestro set right? I tried with submux but the problem persist. The subs appear in the viewable area and the timing and fps are right. I didn't test the svcd in a stand alone dvd player (I don't have one at this moment)

If you refers to a pc player, I don't really know I'm using Windvd 4.0 & PowerDVD XP, but I downloaded a sample of SVCD (cue, bin) with selectable subtitles from dvdrhelp and it happens the same thing, the subtitles are not available, so maybe these players don't give support for subtitles in SVCDs, if you knows another svcd player that support subtitles please let me know.

I ALSO DON'T SEE SUBS WHEN I PLAY MY SVCDS ON PC (WMP OR POWERDVD)
AND THIS IS A REASON (OF MANY) THAT I BURN A SAMPLE ON A CD-RW.I CAN SEE (AND TURN ON OR OFF) SUBS ONLY ON MY STANDALONE DVD PLAYER
All it's clear now, sorry for my ignorance and thanks for your help.
Greetings.

There are currently no software players available that support selectable SVCD subs.
