I've searched the forum and read the fAQ's and havn't been able to come up with a solution for my problem. I have an external High Def cable box that has a S/PDIF output which streams 5.1 Dolby Digital to my sound card's S/PDIF in. I have been able to capture the digital stream and once compiled to DVD, it plays perfectly on my external DVD. My question is this... How can I listen to the 5.1DD stream in real-time? (Basically I want to watch TV on my monitor and have my computer/sound card decode the AC3) Any suggestions?? The sound card I'm using is the Prodigy 7.1 by audiotrak. Thanks,

Keev

This thread explains the method I used. The key is that you must use a sound card that has bit-for-bit accurate digital capture. Anything by Creative Labs will not work, as they alter the digital packets. I use the Prodigy 7.1 by Audiotrak and it works great.
