how to capture tv with teletext subtitle

hi
i want capture a tv program with subtitle on sattelite that have subtitle in teletext mode in page 888
how can i capture that program with subtitle?
i can see subtitles in close caption in my ati aiw radeon card

Well, there are several ways:

1. Capture in analogue with the subtitles on - not quite nice.

2. Capture the complete mpeg2 transport stream, that is including the teletext pid. Then filter that pid (using ds.jar or any other software) in order to get the subs.

the only simple way would be to capture tv-screen with videocamera,but this is not too good method,is it...

teletext (or "videotext") signal is heavily separated from video itself inside the tv set..(in fact they never mix but only when they arrive to the screen itself!)
so you don't get ttx signal on any of the tv-output video connectors....
tv would have to be modified (by electronics tehnician ...or anyone that loves electronics..hehe) so that "RGB" signals that the tube (screen) receives are converted to composite (or s-video) signals that would be of use for capturing............such converter can be made....

simillar to VGA->video converters which u can use to have tv-out if you have monitor (VGA) output only on your graphics ( americans call it "video") card.....(but not teh same device obviously.....tv RGB panel has much larger voltages etc.)

on the other hand,the solution for the PC would have to include some software that would be captioning ttx signals into separate txt file and video to .avi file..........(a while ago there was a discussion on capturing "CC" signals to txt files and seemed like some aver tv cards had the progs to do it....wether it could do it simultaneously with the video capturing,i don't know...)

or....i'm not aware of video capturing software that would overlay ttx on top of the image and capture everything,but try DScaler as it has ttx support and some lo-res capturing support too (not the real thing,but...)
see if it would capture the complete thing or just video...(i didn't tested that as we have "non-teletext" subs here all the time.....)

the interesting idea for a software developer would be to make VDub plugin that would decode VBI (ttx signals) and mix them with the video you're capturing......if i had the use for this feature i would already ask someone....

there, 3 solutions but every one pretty hard to realize....(the last two because of lack of software support)

there are video recorders with teletext decoding built in. might be worth a look.

with mmc 8.1 for ati all in wonder you can decode teletext
and see them in close caption mode
in this mode we can save subtiltle in html or txt file
but without time staps
i need software or any way to capture tv and subtitle together and sync

i download ds.jar and PVAStrumento and try to extract teletext from my captured mpeg2 file in dvd mode
but in demuxing i see only 2 file one for video one for audio and there is no any subtitle file......:(

Owing an ATI AllInWander and aiming to grab the subs passing trouh the bbc (1 and 2) analog channel (I'm in a PAL Country).I follow the McPoodle's graphedit way (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=52371&highlight=teletext, with a twist) to finally end with a file:

The hic was that the RAWtoSCC.exe tool didn't recognise the format. But being similar to the Spanish.txt sample furnished with the McPoodle tools. I did some editing. To finally get a valid format and obtain this:

Now I don't Know how I can transform it in a valid subtitle type for the Zoom Player ( a valid .sub or .srt ...) Or if it's really a valid sub file.

A litle help to put together this puzzle will be great

Hi AloneAgain, welcome aboard:D

vchip, you are watching via satellite right: digital satellite: SKY? (teletext page 888 - england?) though language sounded second... but:

If you turn on the subtitles in SKY (Services/4/3/Subtitles on/Save) then they will be burned (permenantly) onto the appropriate area of the capture, this is not ideal because a separate file is much better.

(It's kind of long 83 Kb)

With it I can store the subs (in the TtextOut.txt file) and the video In the VideoOut.avi file (compressed Mjpeg). There's no sound because I didn't connect the audio crossbar filter. It was my first try to get the subtitles stream.

After a lot of unsuccessfull attempts I discover that the key to obtain a text file with a format close to the 'real' Closed Caption's, is the: ATI Teletext To CC Converter filter, (see the sample in my first post, 'RawCapBBC1.txt' .
Next step is checking the validity of the time stamps extracted from there. (big step though)
