View Full Version : ifoedit crashing on preview in XP

Running version .95 of ifoedit on a clean install of XP with the latest directx version installed. When I attempt to use the preview or play DVD function, Ifoedit crashes. It works fine on my 2000 laptop. Any ideas?

i have the same problem. dvdplay and ifoedit crashes. win xp pro. any suggestions ? i installed different dvd movie players cause ifo edit needs a movie player, but nothing happens :-(

Can't confirm but I had problems with DirectX 9.0 so I went back to a previous one, DirectX 8.1 (4.08.01.0810). I have WinXP Pro SP1 and PowerDVD XP 4.0 installed.

To check your DirectX version, enter "dxdiag" at Start / Run command line and look in System tab.

Actually, I am an idiot. I looked at the executables properties and saw that it was in Windows 98 compatability mode. Once I dropped that, the preview feature worked fine.

doesn't work. tried it without and with all the compatibility modes :-(

Relax, its not XP specific. Sometimes IfoEdit preview hangs my 2000Pro so badly that it requires hard restart.

I have got the same prob on w98, so it isn't a pure XP prob...

It'll hang if you try to view a flick after editing and it goes into a tight loop. Only happens on some flicks.....z

I just encountered this problem using IFOEdit for the first time yesterday. Very frustrating! I made some simple changes, stripping some audio and subtitle tracks, and when I tried to do a preview afterward I locked up and had to do a reboot. I thought I had screwed up the IFO somehow, but I guess not.

But wait, if you get this problem, then how can you verify that the files are working? I tried using Power DVD to open the edited IFO and it crashed too. Maybe I do bork my ifo, but I followed to guide and just made some small changes...........

Somehow your changes created a tight loop......code that goes around in circles..........Some flicks are harder to do than others, and if you do the wrong thing this is what you get...........z
