How to extract only 1 audio channel from MPEG files?

Dear all, the left channel of my mpeg file is Japanese, since I don't know Japanese, I would like to extract only the right channel, could anyone please tell me how to do it? Thanks a lot!

i don't know japanese too, but i still listen to both languages at the same time (it's mind blowing), if it's a (s)vcd and you have a dvd player just press the audio button (if you have that button) on your dvd remote to switch between languages.

if you still want to extract it, download Goldwave (unless you have it) drag you mpeg(vcd), mp2, or wav file into it, wait for it......, edit -> channel -> left or right and then Save Selection As(wav), then convert to a .mp2 file and multiplex it with the orginal mpeg.

you could also uses Sound Forge or Cool Edit, but i have no idea how.

I wonder if using Goldwave involves re-encoding the audio? Would the audio quality drop?

there's always a quality lost when converting to mp2
