dvdshrink 1.03 region 7 & 8

i been using dvdshrink 1.03 for a few weeks in re-encoding mode and it's awesome and i usually just leave all dvd regions 1 through to 6 checked.. but decided to do one with just region 4 checked...

when i loaded it with dvdgenie it reports the dvd that i created as region 4, 7, 8

and windvd4 seems to have problems and hangs with some dvds not specifying 1 specific region

but there's no uncheck box for region 7 and 8 in dvdshrink ?

p.s. what happens if i leave all region code check boxes unchecked ? is that region free?

Hi kenshin,

Region 7 is reversed, region 8 is international, and it doesn't exist in real world. If you unselect all region checkbox, it means that you dvd-r can't be played by any region-locked DVD drive (unless you use DVD Region-Free :-) or any standalone player. I suggest that you select region 1 to 6 to avoid any problem.

Region 8 certainly does exist in the real world. But the likeliness of anyone having a player set to it is very small (it's for cruise ships, among other places)
