I had a thought on a tool I think would be useful and might be a fun project. Just throwing it out in case somebody might consider doing it. If I get no response it will not hurt my feelings in the slightest :) I can't program worth a hoot, but I have spent a lot of years involved with user interface design (years ago).
Smart Audio Encoder - Droplet based, (Besweet encoding engine I would guess?) - Input Ac3, Wav, Mp2, Mp3, whatever that makes sense
Operation:
1> Drag a file on SmartEncoder droplet. Reject any type not allowed.
2> Parse filename and on the fly create a pop up smart menu with just output possibilities and other things that make sense given you know the input file and user preferences (see note 1).
What I mean by smart parse is:
Right off the bat you know what the file type is as you "see" what it ends with.
Most complicated first so let's say it is a Ac3. Does it have a -83ms (or whatever) in the filename? Remember that. So, a menu pops up with the basic possibilities for output with perhaps the -83 already in the delay adjustment box. Possible outputs (in bands?) are WAV, MP3, MP2, etc. (My Personal pre-setup. See note 1)
Some of the settings available are common to all outputs like output bitrate, gain detection, delay correction, etc., and some are specific to the output type like MP2 is stereo but Mp3 is Joint Stereo.
I think this is enough to throw out to see if this is considered a hairball,floaty, or a good concept. Let me know your thoughts...Obviously if something like this exists point me to it please. If you made it this far, thanks for listening :)
Note 1:
Personal choices such as output types could be personalized in a setup tab. For example, I don't do Ogg so I don't want to see it as a possible output type. Somebody else might not do SVCD and may not want to ever see MP2, etc. My line of thinking is based upon establishing a "user knowledge-base" via a lookup table established on data points gathered in a setup tab, or if you wanted to really get fancy, AI evaluation of usage (or both?). As time goes on this table is tailored more and more by the user to his/her specific needs. In other words it is adaptive. It is smart.
