The new build I made works with VirtualDubMod 1.5.1.1a and also fixed the second audio mux problem.

The tests I made shows that everything works fine now, but you never know :). Please inform me for any problems.

You can find it:https://sourceforge.net/projects/gordianknot/

Hi SubConscious,
could you add some kind of pull-down-menu in the encode-tabs to choose between avi, ogm and mkv?

Greetings

Could you commit the code to cvs (both branches) please.

Hi,
these features will be added possibly when len0x will be back :)

Can you confirm if the > 2gb file splitting code is included in 0.28.1?
(so i can resolve the bug reports at sourceforge).

Yeah it is included, because the source code I modified was downloaded this morning.

Encoded just one .vob file for testing purposes and got after the 2nd pass - I only use 2pass encoding - before splitting/muxing, the following error message:

title bar:
VirtualDubMod 1.5.1.1a [DivX505.avs]: VirtualDubMod.exe - Application Error

error message:
The instruction at "0x044a5065" referenced memory at "0x0535d744". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program

Clicking OK, everything seems to finish well then. Never had this problem with the prev ver 0.28. Even with the same vob file. Tested it.
But XviD seems to work with 0.28.1! No problems experienced!

My machine:
AMD ATHLON 900GHz
384 MB SDRAM

I am experiencing the same error as snowbeach.

I am using latest 0.28.1 (and the vdubmod in bundle) with divx 505pro, multi pass. ( P IV 1.7, win XP sp1)

The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program

Clicking OK, everything seems to finish well then.

Tested with a 2 passes and a 3 passes.

No probs with XviD.

Thanks

Andres

I also experience the same problem with DivX 5.05.

VirtualDubMod 1.5.1.1a [DivX505.avs]: VirtualDubMod.exe - Application Error

error message:
The instruction at "0x044a5065" referenced memory at "0x0535d744". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program

I clicked OK and it continues like normal.

I experience another problem with this version. I left 4 jobs encoding last night and when I woke up, I saw this in the log file.

7:23:41 AM: Speed: 1.337 Frames per Second.
7:23:41 AM: Finished DivX5 - Pass: 2. Duration: 6 hours, 45 minutes, 0 seconds.

The first pass only took 27 minutes, 45 seconds.

Here's my AVS script

LoadPlugin("C:\PROGRA~1\GORDIA~1\mpeg2dec3.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\PROGRA~1\GORDIA~1\decomb.dll")
mpeg2source("D:\DVD\Projects\FAMILYGUY_D4_VTS_03_PGC4\FAMILYGUY_D4.d2v")

The first pass only took 27 minutes, 45 seconds. This is really the same problem... it counts the time until you click OK for the error, then calculates the fps from how long it took, so the fact that it was sitting there for over 6 hours before you clicked OK is the reason the framerate is so low.

Seems to be a common problem.
I'm using DivX 505 Pro, set for 3 passes, main movie and credits seperate.
The credits encode OK but I get the error after the first pass of the main movie finishes.

Win XP Pro, SP1. 2.53HHz P4

Cheers, Beastie.

There is somethiong I don't understand here. How do I make a wav file in VirtualDubMod 1.5 ?

Hiro2k

Ok i've confirmed that this error only happens after the first pass finishes. I've reproduced the error 3 time in one day. Some of jobs in the list finished without error, while the other 3 experienced the error.

@bkam
Thanks for pointing that out.

I have the same problem. The first pass encoding is fine, but after that, the second pass encoding window just popped out for a second then closed. When I install vdmod 1.43 back to the directory, everything works fine now.

Hey GKnot-coders,
considering the changes you made with 0.28.1 for the new VDubMod-Version, and especially the problems that now arise for a couple of users, shouldn't you have called it a beta? Now people are downloading 0.28.1 and it's not working that well, and GKnot has a reputation to loose.
I was wondering why it wasn't a beta when you made 0.28.1 public, but then thought the changes might have been just minor and didn't post about it. But now...

GordianKnot.RipPack.0.28.Setup.exe (http://members.xoom.virgilio.it/_XOOM/majerle/GordianKnot.RipPack.0.28.Setup.exe)

Anyone could download 0.28 from this site.
And 0.28 is bundled with "old" VdubMod 1.4xx. No problems with divx 5.05 (multipasses or not) and XivD.
AFAIK Gordian 0.28 isn't downlodable from SourceForce so i put a download link in my site

Best Regards

To everyone who has this problem.
Try to encode manually with the new VirtualDubMod with input the avs file generated from GKnot. Then post any results that you get.

@majerle
The GordianKnot.RipPack.0.28.Setup2.1.exe includes 0.28 is bundled with "old" VdubMod 1.4xx and it is downlodable from SourceForce.

As many of you noticed this wasn't my release. That's why things got hectic... So here is my suggections for the future releasers:

1) Never do release without beta testing.
2) Never hide old stable releases at SF.
3) Never do releases just for one new feature (like new vdubmod)

Third point: there were some major bugs (not for everybody, but for some) discovered in the 0.28 which had to be fixed before next stable release. Now we have 0.28.1 without those bug fixed + unusable new vdubmod for lots of ppl...(+auto split not working again) Reputation is an important thing as someone said, so I'd recommend removing 0.28.1 from download list and forget it ever happened :)

0.28.2 beta will be out ealier next week (Bugfix release + probably a couple of cosmetic gui changes).

I downloaded Jonny's new v1.02 Enc, which is an update from 1.01 to work with the new VdubMod (1.5.1.1a). I thought I would use this with the new VirtualDubMod until Gknot got fixed, but it gave me the same error that Gknot did. Therefore I went back to the last Vdubmod version (1.4.13.2v2 or whatever) and it works fine again, therefore I am hesitant to blame Gknot for the problem. Perhaps I am wrong, but according to this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=52235&perpage=40&pagenumber=2) Belgabor has noted many bugs already with the new vdubmod. I think that both Gknot and Enc wouldn't have made the same mistake, so I think perhaps the problem is Vdubmod which is a very alpha release. Although it's true that Gknot releases should be hesitant to declare stable builds when they are unsure, I think also Doom9 make a point of mentioning that a release is very alpha. Of course, those who peruse the forums will quickly discover what is stable and what is not, but for those who mostly read the front page updates they might be a little misled...Originally posted by Doom9
VirtualDubMod 1.5.1.1a is finally based on the 1.5 VirtualDub series, includes MPEG2 and AC3 support, MP3 and AC3 import have been extended to properly handle corrupted data and a fix for CBR MP3 files has been included, the audio menu has been restructured to support multiple audio tracks for all containers, there's a new preference tab where you can set certain audio defaults and there's basic support for the Matroska container format. This makes it appear that Vdubmod is a very stable build, but the "a" is for alpha... As belgabor said, Originally posted by Belgabor
Much has changed. For that reason and because of the just included matroska support we termed this one an alpha release. Anyway, perhaps I am totally wrong and Gknot is to blame. However, I think that the stability of builds is something that everyone should be cautious of especially considering the popularity of the site among users of all experience levels. Some might not be familiar with the nature of alphas and thus won't understand that upgrading isn't always the best option.

Hi all

Some users (DVX, and also GKnot as I can read here) reported issues concerning VirtualDubMod crashing when using DivX 5 in their favorite all-in-one tool.
Maybe there are many different bugs (I hope not :P), but some additional informations allowed us to reproduce the crash.
The crash we encountered seems to happen in those circumstances :
- you have the XviD codec installed
- your input video is in YV12 (i.e. generally it is an AviSynth 2.5 script)
- your XviD codec is used to decode YV12 colorspace in VirtualDubMod (you can verify it in the 'File information' window)
- you encode to another codec than XviD (e.g. DivX)
- you called VirtualDubMod.exe to run either a specific script file (/s option) or all queued jobs (/r option), and you used the /x option to exit the program when job is finished (the /x is used by DVX and Gknot I think)

Then the program crashes at the end of the last processed job (i.e. when leaving the program). This means that this crash doesn't have consequences on your produced files (all encoding processes have been finished and files closed since a long time when the crash happens).
Unexpectedly it appeared that the crash happened in the middle of xvid.dll (i.e. caused by the XviD codec), without real link with VirtualDubMod code (i.e. it didn't appear as a consequence of the program triggering the XviD codec). Since not using the /x option and exiting yourself the program wouldn't cause the crash, we changed a bit the way the program is closed when using this /x option. This change has been commited in our CVS and we are doing some tests to see if this really solve the problem ...

Now some of you experienced a crash between 2 jobs using GKnot. But IIRC (at least in the previous version) GKnot call VDubMod to process one job at a time, so actually this may be the same problem ...

Hope this may help some of you

This might be it, coz indeed GK processes one pass as one job at a time... (and uses /x option)

I wonder if you could attach just executable of that changed vdubmod so ppl here can try testing it as well ?

P.S. Can you have a look at my question here: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=308167#post308167

so setting HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32\VIDC.YV12 to divx.dll does solve the problem as well?

I put an exe here (http://cyrius.bunkus.org/VDubMod_Fixes.zip) for some people to test.

I had the same problem.
I replaced VirtualDubMod 1.5.1.1a with VirtualDubMod 1.4.13.2v2.
Did 3 encodes all of them with 3 passes. The problem is gone.

so setting
code:--------------------------------------------------------------------------------HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32\VIDC.YV12--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
to divx.dll does solve the problem as well?

I have reinstalled gk028.1 and recreated the bug ( for test pourpose).
I have substituded vdubmod with suyric' one
After a missing corona.dll (taken from vdubmod full package), i get and "Member 'audio2' not found" error one time per nthpass chosen (Sylia script error)

Even
with no sound or one audio track or two audio tracks.
Vdubmod will don't produce any avi.

Thanks

Look like I have to release test version of GK then...

Did you use just 0.28 with new vdubmod ?
coz that obviously won't work :)

P.S. I meant to try new vdubmod with 0.28.1 (if you still have it)

OK !

With gknot 028.1, VirtualDubMod_1_5_1_1a_all_inclusive.zip + Suiryc correction i have no probs at all !

Thanks for your effort !
