it seems to be a pretty good encoding app. only meant for divx i guess since i wasn't able to find a place to select a different codec. they did a good job integrating the bitrate calculator except the user should also have an option of specifying the bitrate as well. also where are the codec settins for DivX at? (edit: nevermind i found it, it's under encodevideo>modify settings>advanced settings) like where are the performance/quality settings at? and is one the reasons they are charging for it because it also supports windowsmediavideo encoding?

(just noted: the way the logo has an Rx, like a prescription for a medicine, and doctor in Dr.DivX, get it? the doctor the rx like it's the medicinal cure for encoding hassles, it's a joke, har har, yeah i know whatever)

Tried it on a 17 gig 80 min. Type 2 standard DV file. Would not read audio but gave no notification. Preview audio did not play and gave no notification. Encoded with no audio. Will not open avs files (is it supposed to?). Seems more like a pre-barely-Beta.

Encode the above DV at a very nice 30 fps using the home theater settings @1000. Quality of encode was pretty good but had a very soft look. Nearly fuzzy, but not quite that far.

I wouldn't buy it. I do like how they are trying to target casual users with limited divx encoding experience. I just think maybe it is too dumbed down. All above is personal opinion, subjective, IMO, and all that stuff. Sorry if it does not sound too positive.

Hi,
i think thsi beta state is very usefull.

I tested it in very different modes, an my expierience is really surprising:

It is very fast.
The Settings were exactly the same:
VOBInput wo Audio
I used exactly the same part of the movie (I think the selection should be made more exact in Dr.DivX).

CPU AthlonXP 1800, state of OS.
Bitrate: 1200
Exactly Same Part of the movie
2-Pass VBR.
Croping/resizing --> done by DrDivX/Codec
Using XMPEG/VDubMod --> Croping/resizing done by XMPEG/VDubMod or Codec
Enhancements on or enhancements off.

I tested really every Setting, but the Speed Difference was always almost equal.

With XMPEG 5.02b2 i got with the same settings, and the fastest IDCT 20 Frames with bi-directional encoding enabled.

Vith VDubMod and the "fast recompress" video mode it got a little faster.

But with Dr. DivX i got between 25 an 30 Frames.

Conclusion:
For standard Operations, (didn't try AVS Script) i will always use DrDivX in the future.

It does not seem to be able to read 2.08 or 2.51 AVS files, even though AVS is listed in the drop down list. I tested the script I was using in both TMPGEnc and CCE, and they both opened fine there. So definitely an issue with Dr. Divx.

Hi,
i made the same expierience with AVS Scripts.
All of my working Scripts don't open, coming up with the claim i don't have the right decder installed, which is impossible.

I think i read sthg., that the Dr.DivX opens clips in all major colorspaces but it again striked opening AVSScripts in various colorspaces...


Probalby the AVS Problem is just a beta issue (i hop it is)...

the avisynth issue is just a beta bug

it can open AVS files no problems, just not in the beta version

this will be fixed soon
