never seen before:
i came across a movie that has interlaced frames every 15 minutes approx and only at scene-changes!?

how should one get rid of such?

A fielddeinterlace() with full=false, and a high "threshold"

Soemthing like:

FieldDeinterlace(full=false, threshold = 30)

might be a start.

Sounds like you're experiencing one of the rare cases of randomly changing phase-shift (probably at cut scenes). Does Telecide resolve the problem?
