Hi, i'm new to this forum, and I love it! :)

I wonder, is it possible in any way to have 5.1channel surround sound in a SVCD movie? If, how? I've tried MPEG5.1 in DVD2SVCD but that didn't help :(

Well, if not with DVD2SVCD, how can this be possible? And will it be supported by my DVD player? The DVD player handles SVCD and 5.1 sound,īso that should not be any problem. Any suggestions higly appreciated! :D

hi Fackamato
:)

maybe it help you:

Hypercube Transcoder v3.0
This tool allow you to encode various audio content in
MPEG multichannel audio format introduced by Phillips.

Such mpeg audio files can be multiplexed with regular
MPEG2 video stream to build 5.1 SVCD.

Check out www.vcdhelp.com about the abilities of your player. If you are lucky, it supports miniDVDs. Then you can use the plugin of jsoto to author miniDVDs and you will get original DVD sound onto your CD-Rs.

No, that are two complete different things, there are very few standalone player that support 5.1 sound for SVCDs.

Aye, i didn't manage to get it to work. My other dvdplayer though, which has the mpeg III multichannel logo, but which doesn't play svcds, might be able to play a VCD with mpeg5.1. gonna try that :)

My Magnavox MRD-200 DVD home theater manual states the following:

Dolby Digital Surround - Also referred to as AC-3, Dolby 5.1,
or MPEG Multichannel - delivers a realistic, dynamic sound similar
to theater and cinema. Many DVDs are recorded in Dolby Digital
Surround.
All five speakers (front left, front right, center, surround left, and
surround right) and the Subwoofer of the DVD Home Cinema
System must be connected to the DVD Receiver.

How do I tehn use the MPEG 5.1 option in DVD2SVCD?
