I can't get the preview of an mpeg video with sound in tmpgenc!
Is this not supported or am I doing sth wrong ?

Have you an installed mp3 codec? Check if you have all needed codecs!

PS: What have you tried to encode? Is the audio VBR? Is it AC3? Is AC3 codec installed?

Please provide us with more information, then we can help you better!

Thank you for the quick reply...
Ok here's more info :
I have at least the following codecs :
Fraunhofer Mp3 Codec
Ogg Vorbis Audio COdec
MPEG Layer-3 Professional Audio COdec
AC3 audio codec

Actually I tried to edit an old and very long mpg and tried to cut some pieces out. I wanted to preview it before I go through with the encoding , but all I could see was the image and I could have no idea about what it sounded like...
Should I demultiplex the audio from the mpg file and then set it as the audio source ? will this work ?

The version of tmpgenc I use is 2.511.51.160

Try to demultipley the MPG file with the TMPG Tools, then try if you can play it with winamp. If this works decode it with winamp to WAV and encode it into mp3 44khz 16bit 128kbs.

Then multiplex it with the MPG file you have and the new mp3 file.

Normaly this should work, but first try if you can hear anything after demultiplexing the audio.

The main problem is that I can't get sound in the "preview mode".
I followed the suggested steps but still no sound in preview ...

He he he :D You won't get sound in PREVIEW !!!

Why don't you just encode 1 min and take a look at the MPG ?!

If you use 2-Pass the preview will never show you the final quality!

Ok ... That's what I wanted to hear.
Surprises me though, that noone complains that sound is not included in the preview, and also that you cannot edit at the same time both audio and video and see-hear what the result is like .(Which is a common practice with virtual-dub unfortunately not for mpeg).

Anyways, thanks mate

with Virtual Dub Mod is possible the preview
"at the same time both audio and video and see-hear what the result is like"

with mpeg and vob files too!
