dvd-r's on ps2

i'm trying to burn ps2 compatible dvd's and all the information i have found on it is that ps2's can be picky about what media they recognize. I have tried playing a few different types of dvd-r's in my ps2, and it recognizes them all, but it plays the movie choppy (it will play fine for a few sec, then pause for half a sec, then play, then pause etc). so i figure the problem is either that i'm burning the dvd's wrong, the media i'm using is no good for ps2, or my ps2's dvd drive just isn't fast enough (it's either a version 5 or 6). anyone have any suggestions, i heard that apple and taiyo yuden dvd-r's work, but have not had the opportunity to get some yet.

These worked for me so far: ritek g03 dvd-r, sony dvd+rw (came with the burner). But it may depend on what make the ps2 is. I heard that older ones can't read +r/rw for example.

i'll try some of the ritek i guess. my ps2 isn't that old, so i hope it should work.
