Hi, everyone.
First of all thanks to everyone who found MenuEdit useful enough to register. I've decided that adding more features to it would be a good way of "repaying" you back :)
Since implementing new features take time, and I don't want to spend much time on something which will not be used (like this feature with saving buttons layout I've been asked for) I would like to collect some opinions about features you want to see in MenuEdit.
Here some I've got so far:
1) ability to remove cells from vobs or replace cells with "empty cell" (this way one can simply remove any unwanted logos, etc). Internally MenuEdit is ready for this. But to me, these features make sense only IfoEdit can make ALL needed changes in ifo files. Am I wrong?
2) Scaling "Menu edit" dialog so that people who use smaller resolution can work with it.
What else?

First, let me say how much I love the program and was happy to register!
I have one request, although I am not certain it is feasible. As you may have seen from a previous post, it would be great to be able to link a button to another menu via a graphical mechanism. As 2COOL pointed out, it is often the case after splitting a dual layered disc that it is desirable to have the chapter button in the VIDEO_TS.VOB point to the menu page which contains those chapters which are on the second disc and bypass the menu page that contains the first chapters which are not on the disc. 2COOL has a guide for how to do this, however, if it could be done graphically in menuedit, it would be easier.
Thanks,
Riprazor

Wowser...Asking for feature requests! Now thats refreshing from a supportive code cruncher, OK, you asked for it....
1. Yup, I agree, scaling issue fixed, both 800x600 issue and preview window scaling (To line up to button rectangles).
2. Minor bugs fixed, invalid x/y entrees, etc..
3. Copy / Paste ability in the HEX edit box.
4. Multi-Lingual support / help file / how-to's.
OK, lets face it there are the Backup the whole DVD by compressing folks. There are the Split the DVD into 2 folks, there are the stream ripper folks, then there is the small group of Cut the extras, cut the credits but keep the menus but kill the buttons to removed VOBS. Hence the birth of MenuEdit. In a year when DVD media is 20 Gb per disk, this will be but a memory, like Windows 3.1 - are you still using it?
So, what would I like to see in a new feature? How about the ability Save a single Mpeg2 CellID frame with button info intacked as a VOB. HUH? You ask? This is sort of like your "Empty Cell" request. Basically, the ability of MenuEdit to take some massive 600Mb menu VOB, autosave VOBID/CellID VOBS -But only a Single frame -out of each cell ID (cutting at the NAV Pack). Then if we can somehow use a IFOupdate tool to change the .IFO to point to the new cell frames, you could compress a moving menu into a still menu, and have all the navigation still work. You see using DVD2One, PIC, or even stream ripping, you get about a 10-20 Mb space left on the DVD, imagine if you could slide in a working menu in that space. Then you can maximize video quality on the movie, not the menu. Tell ya what, Dimad, if you could just show the Current NAV Pack LBA in your Preview window (AS you move the slider), I could work on this on the side. I could use vstrip / vobedit to extract the single NAv Packet (including Mpeg/button info) then append them together, create a .IFO, and see if IFOupdate can change the cell pointers. (Yes, I know PIC can do Menu compression), this is a variation of that. Just cause your asking, heck, if you ever fork your code, since you have the VOB parser code bullet proof, would you want to release a VOB ID/Cell ID Packet stream changer? Its been a DVD Hacking tool needed for a while. Yes, I know VOBedit can change VOB ID's, but its limited and auto-Increments on a new incomming VOB-ID. (If your ever interested, email me, since I started to write one in VB, but am trying to migrate to c++).
OK, I will quit wineing. MenuEdit is a solid tool, does what we need, saves us time, and your willingness to add needed features is outstanding. If you added the ability to ADD NEW buttons, import bitmaps, then save the VOB, heck, you just created MenuMaker Vers. 0.0.1.
As Always...THANKS...

Thanks, sorry for long delay answering. Was working on some of the proposed improvements. Some of them are already implemented in MenuEdit 2.0.

Dimad.

How about when MenuEdit is registered, the register button goes away!

I actually don't have any new feature requests. This is a great, way useful tool, and the latest mods make it extremely cool: solid, and well-designed.
There are times when 2COOL's easy techniques for skipping whole menu pages are just right, but other times when disabling only SOME of the buttons on a page is necessary, and fiddling with them in IFOedit might work, but MenuEdit results are slick.

btw: I have an problem here since 2.0.1 (Registered) and now still in 2.1.0 (still registered ;) ):
When I load a vts_0x_0.vob, the progressbar fills, and when it is ready, MenuEdit closes without any alerts. The vob file isn't write protected or so. Happens with all movies I tested. :(

Could you Post some DVD Title that this occurs on? NTSC or PAL? I have done extensive debugging of this program, and since 2.1.0 its been solid. If this is a new bug I would like to help Dimad kill it, so any info is very helpful. Thank you for your time.

Did some quick tests:
- The Foreigner
- Amazons & Gladiators
- Jason X
- Pulp Fiction
- A self made Futurama Disc (Season One, Disc 2) mastered with DVDMaestro
(All PAL)
All the same: "Processing"-window appears, runs up to the end, and then, at the moment where menuedit should show the preview, it closes.
Maybe some codecs on my machine is missing? But PowerDVD 4 is installed for MPeg2, DVD2Avi correctly shows the contents of the vts_0x_0.vob, no any other problems (IfoEdit, VobEdit, Maestro, DVDDecrypter, ...) here with MPeg2 content.
