Ok, basically I am trying to crop this movie. It is NTSC 4:3 1.33:1 (according to the dvd) The thing is, even when I watch this on a player there a black bar to the left of the film, and to the right.. .they are small, but they are not equal bars. Talking about some serious aspect errors, its a small film. So when I bring this in gordian knot, im basically clueless as to how to fix this problem because.. Ive cropped the bars and in the preview window.. it looks perfect, BUT the output isnt! Am I doing something wrong? Im not a total newb or anything but Ive never had a big problem like this before.. any help is much appreciated

sorry if this has been posted, havnt found anything

In what way does the output look bad? You mean it looks weird because the AR is slightly wrong or that the picture looks bad in some other way?

Could you post your avs-script (remember to remove the commented lines)?

Even though you have croped it to the edge of the image, it may not be divisible evenly by 32 (for width that is. Height is 16). So an extra bit of grame is added so that it will be accepted by the codec.

Hi-

What happens when you open the completed .avi in VDub/Nandub/VDubMod? Does it still look screwed up? It could be your player adding the bars.

Edit: binky, what's a grame? :)

Where do you watch your movie? TV or PC?

In case of your TV:
This is normal, since you use a nVidia graphics card. Their TV chips (Conexant, Chrontel or Philips) do not fill the movie to full screen of your TV. You will always have some black bars at the left and right side of your TV! Or use the TVTool at www.tvtool.info, if you do not want them, but it is shareware :(! In case of an ATI graphics card, everything should be fine, if you active in the ATI control panel the "Theatre mode" (I think it is called like this)!

In case of your PC:
See, if you have adjusted your screen resolution to full screen of your monitor! You probably have to stretch the length of your monitor res! Adjustable with the menu of your monitor.
