I am currently running a fresh install of GKnot 0.28 + DivX 5.05 all installed from the rip packs. I am using IVTC on a DVD encoded at 29.97 fps NTSC but the source material is in fact 24 fps. When I finally encode the movie I can't select the "IVTC in avs -> correct Frame Count" isn't selectable. On the second pass the frame count is wrong thus I get a file that is way too big. Is there a way to manually correct the frame count in the .avs file or am I missing something.

You know that little box down to your left on the bitrate tab that shows your fps? When you open this dv2-project, does it show 29,97?
If it doesn't, I don't think the box will be selectable (but I'm not 100% certain and I can't check here).

Open your d2v-project in GKnot. In the Frames box, next to the "Open *.avi and *.d2v" button, GKnot will automatically show the current FPS. If it shows e.g. 29.970, then select from the drop down list e.g. 23.976. If you do this, you should be able to check the "IVTC in avs -> correct Frame Count" flag, if it is not checked already.
BTW. I always force my 29.970 NTSC DVDs to 23.976 FPS in DVD2AVI.
Now I am doing it with r4r and it works! :D

I don't think so, it would be quite pointless. If that box says 23,976 then an IVTC process have already been done to the source (Force Film in your case) and that correct frame count checkbox would have no meaning.

Right! But this is a misunderstanding! I am talking about the Frames box in GKnot that can be found beneath the Ripping, Bitrate, Resolution, etc tabs, which says 29.970 FPS, if you have not forced film with DVD2AVI.
Then you have to change it to 23.976 FPS in GKnot using the drop down list of this box.
Afterwards, when you are at the encoding options, the "IVTC in avs -> correct Frame Count" check box should be checked automatically. (If it is not, it is not hidden anymore and you are able to check it. It was a long time ago, when I did it this way. But I think, normally it is automatically checked!)

No misunderstanding. :) Thing is, when that drop box is set at 23,976, it would be pointless to do a "correct frame count".
I think the box is automatically set when IVTC is selected in the save .avs window, which is only available when the drop box is set at 29,97.
But I'm only 90% certain, so I should be quiet now until I can actually check. :)

N_F is right. you should not change fps manually but use the checkbox instead. actually this only makes a difference if you are encoding credits separately. overhead calculations are more exact if creditsstart is recalculated as well.
