When you make backup of the DVD and keep original menu graphics why not to keep original buttons layout as well?

There is no need to go through PhotoShop, buttons template can be created automatically from original menu with MenuEdit (http://menuedit.dimad.net).
It was originally created to do a different job (discussed in this doom9 thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?threadid=46178)), but now can export buttons layout.

or you can use subrip and rip the button subpics out as is
