A long time ago I've asked Karl to comment on a few links I had about interlacing etc. Here is the crappy translation of his comments including the links (hope they're not dead, yet). The last two are in english:

Very good, graphical explanation. Altough I don't think it is discussed enough. Some errors. E.g. Line 1 is not part of the 1. but -from the time perspective- from the 2. field. The "active pixels" explanation is not correct and should be explained better.
