There's tons of combing/interlaced lines. If this just because the PC won't display an interlaced DVD or is the transfer just really crappy. I was watching the Brian in Love episode and there's tons of places where there's horizontal lines running through anything that moves quickly. Can someone explain why this is?

Interlaced source on a progressive display... try enabling the deinterlace options of your Software DVD Player.

Turns out it's the DVD's. It's just a really bad transfer. I've heard some claims that the masters were bad to begin with but I don't really believe that. I guess it's possible.

Actually
Lots of people on the forums (and DVD reviewers) have been taking issue w/ the DVD transfer. Please set the record straight. The DVD transfer is PRISTINE...the scenes w/ jagged lines and whatnot have always been there and are part of the broadcast masters. It's not a DVD issue, it's an issue w/ FG being an early digital show...there were some kinks in the animation and post production that are pretty much only apparent in the 1st season eps. If you take a look at the later eps on the DVD like E Peterbus Unum...it's flawless. The colors, sound, everything are as perfect as it can be. I think people just don't recall the problems during broadcast since it's been so long since the 1st season eps have aired...not to mention crappy reception muddies these defects. DVD's too good for its own good, what can ya do...

Are we talking about the NTSC or PAL version of the DVD?
