View Full Version : Missing MSVCRTD.dll

Could I ask the Gordian Knot developers to get involved fixing this problem? For those of us using WindowsXP this is a real pain because it prevents us from running jobs without user intervention everytime virtualdubmod goes into compression mode.

I have read all the posts regarding this problem. None of them have helped resolve this for me. There have been suggestions to remove imagesequence.dll from the avisynth plugin directory, but I don't even have an avisynth plugin directory. There have also been suggestions to download MSVCRTD.dll and install it in the system32 directory. This doesn't help either because it just changes the nature of the error message without actually getting rid of it.

I love the new Gordian Knot so could someone please assist me in resolving this issue?

Its one of i codecs which needs the dll (i think it may be the latest divx codec). What does the error message change to if you install a version of the dll?
also try looks for msvcr70d.dll or msvcr70.dll and install that instead.

If I load MSVCRTD.dll into the system32 directory the error message changes to the following:

The procedure entry point WMCreateWriter could not be located in the dynamic link library WMVCore.DLL

What version of windows media do you have installed and have you installed the windows media 9 VCM codec?

I think that the problem came with Divx 5.0.4/5.0.5.

@all

The problem is not only with the divx codec. I just tried using xvid and I get the same error.

The first time the error appears is when I try to do a compressibility test. It seems to appear every time virtualdubmod is launched.

It also seems to be a problem with WindowsXP only, and not other operating systems.

The problem is cause by having divx codec installed not just using it but by the look of it you need msvcrtd.dll the WMCreateWriter error is a seperate error and according to MSDN that call is part of WM9 so somthing on your system is depending on WM9. try installing the vm9 codec from nics sites http://nic.dnsalias.com/

Tried installing the latest windows media player (version 9) and the latest windows media encoder (version 9).

Problem still exists.

@DavEL

Thanks for your help, I am sure we can get this to work!

Update:

I have now removed all divx codecs and the problem still exists. The more I play with this the more I think it is related to the version of Virtualdubmod that codecpack1.1 installs.

Do you have ffvfw installed? if so can you try uninstalling it and testing if this is causing the problem.

Search with google for the missing dll, and copy them into your subfolder "Windows\system32", and it should be good.

I had the same probleme with ffdshow alpha "build 03.01.2003" missing msvcr70.dll, i'vé juste copy it into system32 and now it's fine ;)

Devellopers should maybe integrated the "missing dll" in setup package.

@cybereye

You are not reading this thread very carefully. It was already mentioned that putting the missing dll into the system32 directory does not solve the problem. It only creates a new error:

"The procedure entry point WMCreateWriter could not be located in the dynamic link library WMVCore.DLL"

@youngster: have you tried installing .net ?

Problem solved:D

There are two files that need to be downloaded from the internet and placed in the WINDOWS/system32 directory:

msvcrtd.dll
msvcr70.dll

I think cyberyeye had an excellent suggestion for the GKnot developers. Developers should integrated the missing dll files in the setup package. Making these files part of the install will save future users many hours of grief.

Many thanks for all who helped me resolve this!

Now we know exactly what these files are we can/will include them in the next build.

Thanx

It seems that by installing the second .net package solves that problem, did it and made it work ok...
Are these dlls related to that package ?

Thanks for listening.

Hy there,
it didn't work neither on my PC, nor on my Notebook (booth with WIN XP and P4). I then uninstalled the "ffvfw", and then everything was OK. I have deleted the 2 dlls, and everything works just great.
