If I use the CBR in TMPG, and try to convert a 110 min movie to 2 SVCDs, will DVD2SVCD automatically use the maximum CBR allowed given the space limit, or do I have to specify the bitrate mannually.

I tried CQ in TMPG, and the last image is substantially smaller. I know CQ is supposed to give better image quality. The question is if it is too conservative and not use all the space available, will it still beat CBR in general?

last question. everyone says CCE is faster. Why it is not the case for me. When I use CQ in TMPG, I get about 1.0 speed. But when I use CCE, 4-pass VBR, it is 3 times slower.

Thanks in advance.

Regarding the speed test between TMPG and CCE, I did another test last night. If I use CBR, CCE is twice faster. Once I move to multi-pass, even with 2 passes only, the speed slows down dramatically. I used a clip of 1:42 long for the test. CCE CBR encoded in 1:16, TMPG CBR and CQ encoded in 3:05, CCE 2-pass took 6 minutes!
I am considering to move to CCE CBR. Some people said CCE CBR does poorly on low bit rate compared to TMPG, is that true? I usually use one CD for every 60 minutes DVD or so.
