View Full Version : Latest development Xvid Binaries ???

Are the latest Xvid development binaries compatible with the new G-knot. When I encode with bframes at 3 and GMC, chroma motion, and luminace masking on I am getting rips about 30 megs oversized?? Even when I change some of these settings I am still getting oversized files. I was thinking that the check box on avi overhead should be put back on. I am going to test that tonight. Or anybody has any specific settings that I might be missing, or any other help for that matter would be appreciated. P.S. the stable binary works perfect the file size comes out to a perfect 700, so I think it must have something to do with the bframes.

that will give you 3-4M difference, not 30 :)
But you can still try with checkbox...

I am encoding with Xvid again tonight with some other settings I hope this fixes the problem. I will let you know tommorow. However, I just finished a divx 5.04 encode the new 5.04 not beta, and the file is undersized by 5 megs? 695 total? Anybody else having this problem with the new divx 5.04?

I almost forgot I did enable the GMC function. I wonder if that may have casued it to undersize. I never had that problem with 5.02 though?

I seem to get slightly undersized files with 5.0.4 if I use more than 2 passes...

If I put the check box on no audio it comes out fine. However, it I check 1xVBR it comes out about 3 megs short. This was for an Xvid rip. I am testing the Divx 5.04 rip now and I will let you know if it works the same way. I put it on no audio as well. I did this because I used Besweet to complete the mp3 rip, and then plug it in before the encoding process started. Once again thanks for all the hard work you guys have put into G-knot. The best damn encoder period. Hey that ought to be you guys slogan "The Best Damn Encoder Period"

that is a known feature already - make sure that for xvid "AVI overhead" is unchecked...

The avi overhead is unchecked, and when I had the checkbox in 1xVBR audio that is when I got undersized files. It I went ahead and ripped the AC3 to mp3 pluged it in, and then did the encode under No audio and avi overhead unchecked it came out perfect. Sorry about that I should have stated that more clearly.

If you uncheck the avi overhead, and keep the 1xVBR checked then the finished .avi comes out at 700 megs right on it. If you leave the avi overhead checked it comes out 4 megs smaller than the target file. Just to be clear I am talking about divx 5.04 and not Xvid. Xvid I figured out too, bit a little more tricky. Avi overhead unchecked, but also no audio checked as well. I am assuming that the mp3 audio has already been encoded and pluged in under audio one. If this does not sound correct please let me know because I must have something not set right. Thanks

which MP3 are u using - VBR or CBR ?

something is not right on your system...
coz I did 3 encodes overnight with 5.0.4 with both AVI+sound checked and they all came out just perfect...

*UPDATE*
make sure you're installed Codec.Pack 1.0 since it has updated divx.dll from another thread which solves key-frame issue discovered in 5.0.4 release.

I am using CBR audio, but I will do that tonight, make sure to download the new codec pack.

I have already purchased the divx pro version so I don't install the divx pro loaded in your codec pack. Because I don't want that gator crap on my computer, could that be the problem, and if so do I need to go download a new version of the pro or do I have to install the version you have included in your pack. Or can I just copy the .dll file into my pro version?

Oh yeah just one more question too, since you have the answers:D I ripped an Xvid movie the other day came out perfect, but the sound slowly went out of sync at the middle to the end of the movie, it looked as though it was about 1 sec off after about half way through. Do you know what might be causing that to happen? I feel sure it has something to do with one of the Xvid settings, but I can figure out which one?

I bet you used CBR MP3 sound ? It's a known issue - nothing can be done about it in GK at the moment - u can only try using AviMux to get sound in properly...

I have the same problem with xvid rips coming out oversized.

I've had one rip come out 74MB oversized, another rip come out 40MB oversized, and another (two cd one) come out only 15MB oversized. I've burned the two cd one onto dvd without even noticing already... :-(

I have the calculate frame overhead check box checked, using chroma motion, max b-frames 1, vhq off, with what I think is koepi's 05042003-1 build (how do I find out?).

This is really annoying me, as I've already had to delete one dvd I've ripped onto my hard disk because of lack of encoding success :-(

Len0x was right, you need to install the whole codec pack again from scratch. I was just updating the programs as they came out in alpha state. Last night I decided to uninstall everything and set it up all over again with the rip pack and codec pack, and like magic everything comes out at a perfect 700 megs:D Len0x once again thanks for all the help, and the effort put into G-knot. I am loving every frame of it :)
