Hi everybody,

just a quick comment/question about DIF4U, although I believe it's rather a DVD2AVI issue. I've found several times when backing up a movie that I can experience problems with still images that display for several secs at the beginning of the DVD. Typically these are warning notices or logos, that show up at once and give you a short time for you to read it. For exemple, yesterday I tried to bakup a movie with ReAuthorist and everything went fine until Scenarist complained at sompilation time, and it said that the bitrate was wrong for one of such .mpvs. I checked the stream produced by DIF4U and it was completely screwed up... Does anybody know what could be going on, and how to solve it?
Thanks...

Hi Fmazzanti,

The solution is very simple : Don't encode those PGC's :)

I faced the same problem and that was the only solution. They usually don't take much space, around 150 KB. If you are not encoding them and still facing a problem then there might be something else wrong.

Regrads,
Rack.

@Rack,
thanks for the answer. However I'm affarid to do what you say. I used to do that, but had problems. I did the DIF4U step to create a ReAuthorist project skipping VTS sets like this one, and the result was that the project created by ReAuthorist was unplayable. I guess that's because these still images appear right upon insertion of the DVD into the player, so they are in the very heart of the DVD structure (not like an extra that you can decide to play it or not)...
Did you try that wirh ReAuthorist projects and succeded?

You have a good point here. Don't strip those PGC's in DIF4U, what you have to do is only not encoding them in DoCCE4U. Simply delete them from the jobs listed and don't forget to rename .m2v files for those PGC's to .mpv so that they will be processed in Scenarist.

Rack.

@Rack,
I did not understand 100% what you wrote, but that gave me the following idea (maybe that's what you were telling me after all).
I just demuxed the .M2V file from the original VOB using VobEdit, and apparently now it's compiling.
Strange... because DIF4U already gets the .M2V via DVDdecrypter. I tried to use that one first (renaming it etc etc) and Scenarist spitted an error message once again. I demuxed the same stream from the VOB with VobEdit and voila!
Still the image is weird but that doesn't matter if the project works, as I'll bypass it via IfoEdit :D
