i'm using the latest version of dvd2svcd. when install i notice that this new version include something to install which is avisynth version 2.05 or 2.08 ( i think they are the right version). i chose 2.05. and then when encoding using TMPGenc i notice that it create some test file or something like that. file names are AviSynth_Script_file_CQ_TEST.avs and each take about 10 mins. it got to the third "testing file" and it give me an error that it cant create DVD2SVCD.INI. after this i did the crash recovery and after about 10 "test files" it finally goes and encode my actual movie. and the whole process went smoothly. Why did it report that it cant make DVD2SVCD.INI file? after the recovery everything work? I just tested out another movie and i got the same error at the same spot. how can i fix this? why we have the new test files? can it be turn off. Follow is part of my log file.

This is because you chose the CQ method of encoding in TMPG. Those tests are needed to attempt to try to predict file size which is very difficult and imperfect at best. Try using the 2pass vbr method instead.

Still, you should not have gotten the failure to create the ini file so that may require Dvd2svcd to investigate.

should i make a report?

When i change it to 2pass vbr, it said that it's about 35 hrs for encoding. does this estimate drop through out the process to about 10 hrs or is it gonna take about 35 hrs? thanks.

All I can tell you now is to use 2pass vbr. Arguably it does a better job. I'll put this on my to do list to check CQ mode. It has always been a bit on the funky side.:logfile: :script: :readrule:
