I have a dvd with 29.976 NTSC (4:3), wanted to deinterlace.. DVD2avi tells me its Interlaced.. i tried with another DVD.. which is PAL and 25.000.. but the fps was not touched and worked fine.
But this NTSC thing.. getting me on nerves.. i dont know whats wrong.. should i put.. Telecide () and Decimate () as well ?
I did only this one:
FieldDeinterlace(Full=true)
But i end up with 25.000 fps.. instead 23.976. and size 683 instead 700.
I want combine two frames to one (ghost effect).. which appears often unregularly.

ShaoMonk,
It's not quite clear what you really wanna do.
But i end up with 25.000 fps.. instead 23.976
If this suggests that you want the framerate to drop to 23.976fps, in Decomb you can do
Decimate(cycle=5)
DVD2avi tells me its Interlaced
Hope that this is not simply the reason you wanna do deinterlacing. :).
For an NTSC DVD, it's recommended not to deinterlace all the frames because it produce relatively worst quality, but instead, do IVTC for most frames and have to deinterlace when IVTC cannot necessarily remove all the horizontal lines.
Telecide() in decomb is the feature that does IVTC mostly and deinterlaces if necessary.(don't use fielddeinterlace after using telecide(), coz FieldDeinterlace simply deinterlaces, which Telecide() has already done)
For NTSC dvds, set guide=1, and pal, guide=2.
For animations, set chroma=true for better quality.
For instance,(:)kinda sounds in rhythm) if you have an NTSC animation, and you want to drop framerate to 23.976fps with better quality(some settings may come with tradeoff of slower encoding speed),you may write:
Telecide(guide=1,chroma=ture)
Decimate(cycle=5,quality=3)
For ghost effect prevention, please refer to the parameter "gthresh".
Still other parameters for both telecide() and decimate(), as well as fielddeinterlace, are in the decomb help file.

cipher,
if I hadn't understood the decomb features beforehand, I doubt I would have from your explanation ... ;)
ShaoMonk, everything is explained here (http://www.doom9.org/ivtc-tut.htm) on Doom9.
