avi_io and buffer fatal errors

Is there any way to solve this problem?

I've tried different motherboard, hard drives, OS's, everything.

I always get 0/1 buffers used for about 10-15 mins, then BANG, instantly 50 buffers used and fatal error.

Yes, all power save is turned off, screen save is turned off, etc.

I'm at wits end here as it's completely shut off my capturing.

More info on this.

Turned all BIOS pci settings off, tried all permutations therein.

VIA apollo Pro chipset, 1.2ghz proc.

Happens with any HD I hook up, any capture card I use.

Happens with a brandnew FRESH xp installation.

Please, someone come up with an idea here as I'm totally, utterlly, baffled by this problem.

Other people HAVE to have had problems like this .. what did YOU do to solve it?

use another capture program,check your source video....
i think avi_io buffers go wild with lousy sources (poor vhs copies etc.)
