If I understand you correctly, you can simply do a comp check (at the desired resolution) and then tweak the final file size in the Bitrate tab until you get 65% compressibility. Don't forget to turn on B-Frames for the comp test if you plan to encode using B-Frames (which I assume that you do).
Just to clarify, compressibility only depends on the movie you are encoding, and not the Divx codec settings you end up using. The comp test tells you how many Bits/(Pixel*Frame) is needed to get maximum quality out of the codec. How much you actually want to compress it is entirely up to you.

thats not what i meant, but thanx. in gknot .28 beta, there are tabs to set each pass setting in options tab, even 4 comp check. i was just wondering how to set up the codec 4 each, esp comp check, to get optimal rips at 65% (best comp ive found 4 tv viewing).

First of all, there is no need to adjust the codec settings for comp check. It is set to single pass with the best quality possible because the whole point of comp check is to find out how many bits are needed to get maximum quality. Then you can decide how much you want to compress it, say, 65% of that limit in your case.
As for fine tuning 1st and 2nd pass codec settings, I am not sure because the default works just fine for me.

ok, ifigured it out. got divx pro 5.0.4. 4 1st pass , set to multipass pass, 1st pass, 2nd pass was multipass, nth pass. 4 both enabled biderectional encode, gmc, + light phychovis enhance. figured out comp check earlier. doig 3 passes out of curiusity now, but already got best rip ever at 2 passes. thanx.
