The luminance filter in dvd2avi use to work pretty good.

I got good at adjusting the gain and offset controls so that it was like seeing the final film in the theater. However, something was changed in gknot; something that made my efforts a total waste of time. Now, after completing the Nth pass, I have to add another pass of vdubmod just to brighten things up a bit. I hate that filter too: it is not suitable for making fine adjustments and getting immediate feedback. Adjusting ffdshow is not much better.

Could you please allow the dvd2avi luminance filter to work properly again in gknot?

it's a feature of working in YV12 mode with Avisynth 2.5x. In YV12 mode all luma settings are ignored... That's how we pay for speed :)

Hi lenOx,

Does that not have to be selected in Divx to work?

If I don't select yuv extended mode in Divx 5.0.4, I believe that the luminance settings should work just fine. Yet, the dvd2avi luminance settings go away. That suggests to me that gknot is doing something to overide Divx 5.0.4 settings through AviSynth or directly turning the extended mode on and it apparently does so on the first pass. If true, do you really want to assume that everybody will want to check the extended mode box?

You have a fine product, but please don't destroy the versatility of dvd2avi by assuming all will want yv12 functionality because it isn't so.

Replace all the avisynth plugins with the old 2.x versions, uninstall avisynth 2.5 and reinstall a 2 version instead then change the alternative mpeg2dec back to mpeg2dec.dll instead of mpeg2dec3.dll and you have a non yv12 gordianknot again.

BTW the extended yuv mode doesn't matter at all for encoding if the avs outputs yv12 the divx codec can't change that.

post-processing settings of divx codec has nothing to do with avisynth, version 2.5x of which is ignoring luma settings...
Roll back to 2.08 as DaveEL said if you want to use those...
