Well, this one was really funny topic on that former vcdhelp.com:

"This guide will make you a perfect quality DVD. I made it mainly for cartoon collectors (we have interlace issues to deal with), but it should work just fine on movies and home movies. It's taken experience and research to get this information. I have never seen a guide like this to date. Most guides are for copying existing discs. Very few people actually have the knowledge on how to capture VHS/SVHS video source and make it look as good as a DVD video you would buy in the store. This guide will tell you how to capture your VHS source, and lead you all the way to making a final disc. Encode time is real-time!"

Of course I will not even bother to try it myself (and I dont own Ati-card), cause this is one of those 'mission impossible' things.

But I wonder what kind of dvd's this guy owns if his captured material will look as good as them..

No avisynth? Hmmm, indeed I wonder what kind of standard for DVD quality this person has  His guide will probably work for capturing and putting the material on a DVD, but the quality ... oh well, it'll probably not look too bad if you watch it at a low enough resolution after all, no?

Yes, it was funny. But note that his source is digital satelite, still it remains funny.
