I have been encoding a lot lately and for some unknown reason now every time I try and encode a movie my computer completely freezes and I have to hit restart. I am using Divx video duplicator, and also tried Vidomi, both worked very well before, now they make my system lock up, can't even move my mouse cursor. Some times it happens right away, and other times it happens about 99% through which is very annoying. Anyone have any ideas what may be causing this? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Note - it doesn't matter what codec I use, it freezes with 5, 4 and xvid................. someone please help me

Hi-

Sounds like a hardware issue to me. Have you done anything to the computer since it was encoding well -- OC'd the CPU (or OC'd it further)? Have you tightened the memory timings? Have you run Prime95 to check for stability? Or Mem86 to check the memory? Is the memory fitted into its slots tightly? Has your heatsink come loose? Have your air intake holes gotten blocked with dust? Can you check the temps while encoding to make sure it isn't overheating? I'd look at those kinds of things first.

Have you tried encoding directly in VDub using XviD or DivX5, instead of through DivX Video Duplicator (whatever that is) or Vidomi?
