View Full Version : DVD2AVI 1.77.4 For DVD/DivX

Anyone wishing to take advantage of both DVD2AVI's frameserving via Mpeg2dec.dll and also use DVD2AVI's DTS Demuxing had to make two seperate projects, one with 1.76 and a new one with 1.77.3 to demux the DTS. Therefore to eliminate the step, I've changed 1.77.3 to also provide the option of saving project files in the old format. This means they will open in GordianKnot and CCE (via Mpeg2dec.dll) with no issues.
You can get it here:

I'd heard there was an incompatible .d2v file but never got around to looking into it. Are there many changes? Or would it be something easy to support in MPEG2DECx?

I would have done that instead, but I could not find a recent version of Mpeg2dec source, I'd like a version with the SSE2MMX iDCT, et al.. got one handy?

There is almost always source in my zips on the web. I treat it as free backup to disperse it all over. ;)
www.trbarry.com/DVD2AVIT3.zip
www.trbarry.com/MPEG2DEC2.zip (for Avisynth 2.x, YUY2)
www.trbarry.com/MPEG2DEC3.zip (for Avisynth 2.5, YV12, Marc FD's)
Sorry I have not updated the save-oe project with my latest HDTV related changes. I'm not sure which MPEG2DECx should go there.
I think the MPEG2DEC2 has more P4 optimizations but will crash if compiled with too zealous optimization or auto inlining. I'm pretty sure both have SSE2 IDCT. MPEG2DEC3 doesn't have cropping but does have all Marc's nifty post processing options.

Andres If you have a Pentium 4, you need to use MPEG2DEC2/3 to support the 64-bit SSE2 MMX iDCT algorithm. Otherwise you'll get a grey background with some colored dots in a regular pattern. :J

@JuanC
i have already checked in gordian "use alternative ..." and i am using mpeg2dec3.dll (MPEG2Dec3 for Avisynth 2.5) , already putted in my gordianknot folder.
i must have miss somethings 'cause isn't functional...
Thanks again

In the .d2v file.. what does it say for IDCT number?
i.e.
iDCT_Algorithm=5
I can't imagine what the problem would be.. I've already generated a couple of DVD streams via CCE and demuxed AC3s from this version, and everything seemed to work ok with Avisynth and mpeg2dec.

Try changing iDCT_Algorithm to 2.

I explained the known issues that I felt would be problems here: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=50777
If I would have been smarter, I would have included an updated README in the .zip.

Could you bundle your dvd2avi with a fuctional mpeg2dec ( for avisynth 2.51) ?
Thanks
Andres
nic's new mpeg2dec3 can handle dvd2avi 1.77.4 .d2v files!
look here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=53164)

I just made GordianKnot work with dvd2avi 1.83 and mpeg2dec3.dll 1.0.6 :)
I was wondering where can I get 1.77.3 or 1.77.4 (all corresponding links in the forum seems to be down)
And anyway - which version of DVD2AVI is better to use with GK ?
great news!!!
you can find dvd2avi 1.77.3 (the last one from the original author) on the original site (http://arbor.ee.ntu.edu.tw/~jackei/dvd2avi/)
but dont ask me which version to choose, i have no clue :p
perhaps you should search in the dvd2avi forum for help?
