352x480 res menu

I've done a couple of DVD backups where I've put two movies on one DVD by re-encoding them at a resolution of 352x480. I'm using SpruceUp to make a menu with a start button for each film. By default the menu in SpruceUp seems to be set to 720x480. When I start a film from the menu (playing back on my Pioneer 343) there is a jump where the movie is half-screen in size for about half a second. I'm guessing that if I could put the menu in the same resolution as the movie I would lose this little jump. Is this possible and will it solve the problem?
