mpeg to DVD format??

I used Leadtek's WinFast 2000 XP delux card to capture a home movie of our daughter in her 8th birthday party. It was my first try. First time I captured it as an AVI file and it took 3.9 GB with the remainder on another AVI file not quite as bit.

Second time I choose DVD format MPEG on the Leadtek PVR (Personal Video Recorder) and it captured it as a much smaller MPEG file. I used Nero Vision Express to burn it to CD using SVCD format. It Transcoded it and burned it to CD with no problems.

So I have been successful twice.. both play well and video and audio is in sync.

Is there a way to convert this or these files into DVD with *.VOB and *IFO files? It would be nice for others to have a movie that would play on their DVD player, and since I have a 4X DVD burner, I can burn to DVD instead of just to CD. *S* I think the quality in the end would be much better as well.

Your question isn't exactly a capture question; instead, I would think this falls into DVD Authoring. If you haven't looked through them, you might want to check out Doom9's Authoring Guides (http://www.doom9.org/mpg/dvdauthoring.htm). You may also want to look at the Encoding Guides (http://www.doom9.org/mpg/dvdencoding.htm), to transcode (if needed) into DVD compliant MPEG-2.

Let me know if you'd like your question transferred to another forum, where you may be able to get more specific help for Authoring/Encoding.

By all means transfer it to where it's supposed to be and you can delete this thread! *S* Howdy to the other side of as well:D

I've used DVD Decrypter to bring movies into the hard drive and then burn (translated as "arrange" )them using DVD2ONE, DVD95COPY, and even did some re-adjusing with IFOEdit 95 and VOBrator. I use Nero 5.5.10.20 now to burn the DVD's and works very well.

I do have a lot of the different software downloade for video, even the video codecs for DVD and DivX. So I am familiar that I need the IFO and VOB files to be compliant with DVD standards. I wasn't sure if Nero was able to do an AVI to DVD conversion in itself?

There ARE several other capture setting using the PVR (Personal Video Recorder) in the software from Leadtek. Total length of the home movie is around 14 minutes. They also sent along Ulead's VideoStudio 6 which may also have some more goodies for rearranging the large AVI file to DVD or the smaller MGP file.
