View Full Version : Did I just waste $100.00 on bad media?

Last week I successfully completed my first DVD backup without any problems. I used the Main Movie Only guide on this site that uses DVD Decrypter, IfoEdit, and VOBRator. At the time, I burned the DVD Clerks onto a RW+ that came with my AOpen DVRW2412Pro burner. This copy worked perfectly on my Sony stand alone DVD player. Today, I went to Best Buy and bought 50 Fujifilm R+. I wanted to save my RW+ for other things so I used the same process to burn Clerks to one of my new Fujifilm R+'s. I received no error messeges during the burn and the R+ will play on my DVD-ROM but it is not being read by my Sony stand alone. Please tell me I made some newbie mistake along the way and didn't just waste $100.00.

Thanks.

Can your sony read DVD+R discs?

Did you remember to run Get VTS Sectors on all .ifo files etc?

Yes I got the VTS Sectors because the RW+ worked but the R+ didn't. I just assumed that my Sony could play R+'s. Do they usually not play on regular Sony DVD players? I only got it about a year ago.

you might want to check your manual for the Sony I bet that is the problem cause my Samsung will read DVD+RW but only DVD-R media you might be in the same situation

Try changing the bitsetting to DVD-ROM. Maybe that will fix the problem.

No, You did not waste your money, Fujifilm blanks are on of the best ones out there.
I'm trying to recall and if it wasn't for my CRS condition (stands for Can't Remember S _ _ t!) I think that the blanks are made by Tayio Yuden, the favorite DVD blanks manufacturer by many from this forum.

Good to know. In that case I likely just made an error somewhere in the process. Sucks being a newb.

What model is your Sony DVD Player? I have two. One is about 3-4 years old. It reads DVD-Rs perfectly but not DVD-RWs. I dont know about DVD+R or DVD+RW because i dont have a + burner.

Finally found SA specs, it's a Sony DVP-NS300. Just found it odd that the RW+ would work but not the R+. Still haven't found out where I went wrong b/c I thought I burned them both using the exact same process but maybe I did one thing wrong along the way. Going to try again tomorrow.
