When I was around 6 or 7 and lived in the country, I liked to eat cow ration. You would be surprised how little diferent it is from Kellog's All Bran.
That and soil fertilizer too. Phosphates I think. It's a bit like eating salt, the flavour is a diferent however.

Not very hard to beat!

A friend of mine and his "gang" used to bet things like surf boards on who could eat half an egg (those wooden things you hold eggs on top to break them) of a unbelievable spicy home made sauce his mother made. Before you go around saying "Ah, piece of cake!" theese were the 2 only rules:
1 - You spit anything out, you loose the bet. Unless of course you eat it again.
2 - For half a hour you could not drink nor eat anything else!

I've seen them trying to climb the walls of the kitchen. NO BS!

Another friend's father would...
...well, I'll give you people the oportunity to step on new ground before I'll tell you that story!

I am very careful of what I eat, so I guess that the following will not be so weird:

When I was kid, I stayed with my cousins in a farway place of my Island, we went fishing and one of them got a water snake (called angila), this was supposed to be a fish like animal, they prepared it
for cooking removing the skin, which was hard and with a silver color.

It tasted like, like snake, I guess.

A couple of years ago, I was meeting with my company's Greater China sales offices in Shanghai. A dinner was arranged at a Shanghainese restaurant .... and I knew I was in trouble when my colleagues from HK, Beijing, and Tapei were pointing at the food and laughing.

I learned a little bit about Shanghainese cooking that night. Apparently, the cuisine has two strict rules: If it moves ... eat it.

If it's poisonous ... eat a little less.There were 23 courses served, I could bring myself to taste 4 of them. The country manager laughed and said, "Well, knowing where you're from, I didn't order your table the scorpion or the placenta."

I think the bird-head appetizer (course #5) was the most interesting looking.

I did as duartix when I was a kid, I ate cow food too, also I ate milk replacement :) But I guess the weirdest thing I ate was a live guppy. It was a bet (I won). :D

Also, here in the USA, we have a show called Fear Factor. It calls for people competing to face their fears and there were alot of weird eating stuff. By the way I think almost every country now must have some way of watching fear factor!! its gotten really big. (im from ireland)

I'm not a veggie or anything in fact I am after eating a chicken burger that was about the size of an actually chicken :D But am I the only one who thinks boiling live crabs is wrong??

The best fear factor thingy was when they had to eat the different animals dicks(peanis's), that was so funny :D

The weirdest thing I've ever eaten (intentionally) would probably be a hu-hu grub. In case you don't know what that is, it's a lavae found in rotting wood and looks kindof like a huge pale yellow maggot.

You fry it up, then bite its head off and eat the body. They taste strangely similar to peanut butter.

Every year here in NZ, a small town on our West Coast has a wild food festival that is getting a bit of a name for itself. At the festival you can buy and eat such delicacies as:

Sheeps balls (or mountain oysters as the locals call them)
Hu-Hu grubs
Snails
Sheeps brains
sauteed sheep eyeballs
seagull hearts
pig offal
and carefully shaped bull penis sausages :)

I used to love watching the fear factor, I loved the bet where they had to eat crazy food, or sit in snakes etc...was great watching the big hard arse guys crumble :)

Back in the Philippines I had a friend whose Dad bought a couple dozen duck eggs for balut-making. They left them on top of the fridge, and after a couple of days two of the eggs hatched! :D

Oh yes we chinese eat everything that moves, especially if they have legs :D I've eaten several 'weird' things, like bats, dogs, snakes, snails, turtles, biawak (indonesian giant lizard known as Varanus indicus) and some others. When you live in different parts of the world, sometimes the term 'weird' has a totally different meaning.

I guess in some parts of the world people would consider it very weird to put bacteria in milk in order to make it hard and then wait until this block of bad milk has mould all over it before you eat it.

We call it "cheese", some might call it just weird...

It wasn't intentional, but I once ate half a Baby Ruth
candy bar full of maggots.

My friend noticed them before I did. I didn't taste them or feel them squigle in my mouth.

The candy bar was loaded with them though.

I don't remember if I started throwing up or not. It was 25 years ago or so. I never even demanded my money back I was just too freaked out.

lets set the scene.

I am in my parents house, its about 4 in the morning. I do not want to wake them. I have a cup of milk on top of my TV that I put there about 12, so it'll be a bit warm but I dont mind. I decided to try and down the whole thingy in one go, so here I go. Now heres the problem, I picked up the WRONG cup. The cup I had picked up had been there for over a week and I now had extremely hard,sour milk in my mouth. I couldn't spit it out as it'd go over everywhere and I couldn't rush to the toilet as I'd wake my parents.

SO I DOWNED THE WHOLE THINGY!!! :D

And without lying I found it hard to drink milk for over a year.

This is as close as I can get - when I was in grade school,I would go to my grandmother's house after school. She always had me a glass of sweet tea in the refrigerator and some kind of snack to eat as well. One day I went to the refrigerator, I was really thirsty too, grabbed the glass and took a big drink and about fell on the floor. For some reason Grandma had used the yolks from eggs and saved the whites - well they looked just like tea to me.

Mwahaha. One of my good friends is married to a Korean woman and yeah, every time I go over I am greeted by a moderate Kim-chi smell that increases exponentially in intensity as you approach their fridge... I absolutely love Kim-chi but the trade-off of having properly prepared home-made kim-chi is waay too big for me. Buy and consume within 12 hours has become my policy :D

My family-in-law is Italian, napolitan to be precise.
They have that nice smelling (should I say stinky, can't remember the name) cheese where you have to wait for maggots to grow up before you can eat it.
Believe me, it was some fun picking up these small maggots on the table with a fork, trying to escape from the cheese.
Tasted good in the end. But it was quite hard to eat the first one...

(Any italian guy around able to tell the name of this cheese ?)

Another one from the Italian factory.
You fill a glass with pure lemon juice, put an egg in it (complete egg, with the shell). There is also some alcohol to add in the glass, but I can't remember what it is.
Next, wait long enough until the egg is completely "melted" in the lemon juice and alcohol. Shake it, drink it, and die (or puke if you're stronger than average).

This is said to be one of the most energetic drinks you can have.
As usual can't remember the name.
(Can't drink it either, so I don't care about the name)

I just remembered something!

A few years back I was sitting in a hotel doing nothing while my dad was asleep. I was messing with a dead spider on the window sill and for craic I put it on my dads lip. I lol'ed a bit but when I decided to take it off, my laughing had slighlty disturbed my dad so he rolled over!! swollowing the spider!!!!

Lesson here:

Dood - Kim-chi is good! Just throw it on some hot rice and go to town. I tried it for the first time like 2 yrs ago. Nice and Spicey.

I used to eat ants when I was like three or four. They taste like batteries(you know like 12volts). Guess they are acidic? I've also had dog food at various young ages.
