If anyone can send me a good link for info on .OGM files i would be in ur debt.

p.s. quickly, can someone tell me if .ogm is more than compressed video (Divx,Xvid) and an .ogg audio stream

OGM is not a video compressor like Xvid or Divx, it is a container format like avi. It is used to store and interleave the audio, video, subtitles, chapters, menus ... and so on, of a movie file. I encode my DVD into Xvid movies, and I use the OGM container with it. Here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?threadid=16974) is the link to the new formats faq. It has some links to some information, other then that try searching on the forum, or use google. It's not very hard to find.

Just to correct TelemachusMH, it sounds like he knows it's a container b/c he says "DivX & OGG audio". Anyways, search on Google as TelemachusMH said, and you should find a lot of info.

Wouldn't it be more accurate to say "DivX and a Vorbis audio stream in an Ogg container"?

Ogg is only a container that was designed by Xiph to hold different streams. It was designed specificaly to be streamable. Xiph also designed the audio codec Vorbis, which is normaly put in Ogg. While Xiph designed Ogg to hold different types of streams, however they never specified how exactly to put video, subtitles, and other audio formats in it. So a person named Tobias came up with his own implementation Ogg to hold these other streams and he called it Ogm. So, technicaly an Ogm file is basicaly an Ogg file that contains video. It may also be using Vorbis, or some other type of audio codec such as MP3.

Wow. I just reread the paragraph I wrote and realized how disjointed it is. I hope it makes sense when people read it.

Ours is not to question why. ;)
