Hi guys...I have a quick question to ask for my DVD project. Ok.. I use TMPG. to encode my Mpeg2 video. And from what I know...if i demux my Mpeg2 video. I would get an audio of mp2 right ?? From what I know is that Maestro and Scenarist supports mp2. But my question is..if I am in the NTSC region....Should I keep my audio as MP2..?? or I should convert to AC3?? Because I always convert my audio into AC3. But this time I don't want to convert it to AC3...because there are alot of little files of mpeg2 (like 60 files of mp2). I don't want to sit there and convert all my mp2 into ac3...So can I use mp2 audio in NTSC region ?? I heard that there're some NTSC players can't play DVD with MP2 audio ?? is that true ??

There are some players that don't play mp2 audio. I used an older Pioneer DVD player that wouldn't paly the mp2 audio on my dvd's.
But I think all the newer ones play them ok.
If you see my other thread about mp2 audio, I'm worried it might not be as robust as AC3

If you are using Scenarist, can't you just drag and drop them all at once into your project and just let it go until it's done? Then you have guaranteed compatibility, size is (about) the same, and no lengthy work time.

Scenarist has a built in AC3 encoder. You can just drop your MP2 file into the data window and it will encode it for you.

are you sure Scenarist can do encode mp2 ?? I just check and Scenarist only takes in ".aiff .aif .pcm .wav .mpa" So how do i convert my mp2 into ac3 ?? with what software ???

MP2 and MPA are the same. If your MP2 is @ 48KHz sampling, just drop it into Scenarist window and it will let you choose to leave as MPEG1/PCM, or encode to AC3.
EDIT: If you have 44.1 or another, then I don't think it's gonna work unless you resample it.

hey thanks for the reply...but somehow when i click and drag my .mp2 into the AC3 Encoder ..it won't take it..but when i rename my .mp2 into .mpa then I can drag it into Scenarist AC3 Encoder...soo is that ok to rename .mp2 into .mpa and then encode it as .ac3 ???
Thanks..
P.S. but what if i just want to decode .mp2 into wave..then what program would i use to do that ???

Yes it's OK to rename MP2 to MPA.
You can use Winamp or BeSweet to encode MP2/MPA to WAV if you wish.
