encoding with low HD space

Hello guys,
i would like to encode my divX starting from a DVD but in the last times I have really low HD space (something like 2 or 3 Gb) so I would like to know if it's possible to encodig from directly from DVD without ripping on HD before.I remember that there was a plugin for fglask (or Xmpeg) that I would like to use other programs.
I think that encoding without ripping isn't possible with gknot.....and I'm sorry for this.
It's possible maybe with other all in one programs like vidomi or divx video duplicator???
I would like to use even double pass.

PS:I know that isn't the best solution for velocity and for the "life" of my DVD reader but at the moment I have no choice :(

DVDx can encode without ripping to harddisk. You do not have the full flexibility of an avisynth based way, but it is possible.

You can find the most recent version 2.2 in doom9 download section. (Under "decoders"! ??)

ok thank you...so at the moment there are 2 possibilities: DVDx or Xmpeg...wich one do you think could be the best for me?
(rip with 2 pass divX 5.02 , mp3 middle/low bit rate , 1 cd 700mb )

PS:do you think ogg could be better than mp3?

Unfortunately I have neither experience with Xmpeg nor with ogg :-(
In DVDx you can only use cbr mp3 though. But I think the main problem with DVDx is, that there is no easy way to encode credits separately. Nevertheless I did my first encodes with DVDx and I was quite content with the results.
