I'm in Overlay mode (VirtualVCR), i just tunned (bt8x8) a TV channel for capture,
image performance appears definitely clear & well, i push the 'start capture'
button and -- only when of the capture -- my screen quality degrades:
random white lines (noise) appear-vannish with ~100 ms duration and placed
mostly in the upper 3rd section of the screen.
I stop capturing and my Overlayed screen shows a very fair image -- again.

I reproduce the captured avi file and results, qualittywise, are better than what
i expected, but some of the said white lines were kept.

Now, i've fine tunned all the channels; i've increased Bios latency timming; i've
excluded all possible sources of radiating interference... But to no avail.

Any helpful hints will be most appreciated.
Thanks.

This may help. From the Capture FAQ sticky thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=32575):If you have a BT8x8 chip, the OVERLAY mode has to be switched off during the capturing session.

My mistake.

You see, this advise i´m seeking is in fact for a friend of mine
(she's not connected to the Net nor she handles the 'lingo').
I feel responsible once i convinced her to replace ATV2000 (which
has a sort of Overlay mode) with VirtualVCR (Preview mode)for capturing. Satisfyied at first, she asked me for help, lately.
And the situation is as i described above.

Thanks.
