My Sony DRU500AX burns just fine with Pinnacle Studio8 and the digital video camera tapes I edit as well as any standard burning jobs. However, grandkids are visiting so used DVD Decrypter on a movie to burn a copy they could scratch to their hearts' content.

The software (Veritas MyCD) that came with the Sony will NOT burn the results ... claims disk is bad --- but that exact same disk can be burned with self-made video! Additionally, from the hard drive the Sony player software will play the file(s) with NO SOUND. But my ATI DVD player software plays it just fine (which is not a problem .. just reporting a symptom).

Any Ideas? Should I get Nero? Or is there any inexpensive or free DVD burning software available that will burn for this one time without too much de-installation/re-installation hassal? Any fixes?

Thanks!

Nero is not perfect, but then no software ever is. Without wishing to point the finger of blame at any of the software you are currently using, I would nevertheless recommend that you do try Nero, since the vast majority of suers use it (myself included) and get great results. It's a free demo, and you can always uninstall it if it doesn't solve your problem. Personally, I don't think you will end up uninstalling it. IMPORTANT - make sure you download Nero version 5.5.10.20

You can download it from:

F*P://ftp2.ahead.de

or the website:

w*w.ahead.de

Good luck, repost if no joy.

Thanks Arkey! I got Nero and it works like a charm and is so much nicer than the original Nero I used to use ... and their Express is ideal for the rest of the family.
