I posted this problem in the basic forum but with no response, I assume no one in the basic forum has my answer so i am now asking for a solution here.

I thought I had a Video problem of no picture but now I know there is a picture part, its just blank or black this was both on a standalone dvd player and my computer through powerdvd.

I encoded a SVCD from already decyripted vob files (CLADDVD), this time I encoded it from a DIVX movie and had the same problem. When I play back the SVCD it has sound but a black or blank picture rather than the movie. I have a P-4 1.7g, 80gig HHD, 64m gforce4, 512mb DDR running win 2k. I also have a standalone DVD player supporting several formats including SVCD.

At first glance it seemed that DVD2SVCD had not done the TMPGEnc conversion of the video but on a closer inspection I noticed a mpg file from the TMPGEnc conversion, so i played it in power DVD and found there was not picture before it was merged with the audio. I also checked that TMPGEnc encoded the video through the process of encoding.

I know that even if i reripp the DVD with DVD2SVCD, it will do the same thing can some help please. below is the dvd2svcd_log.txt file contents:

Just to clarify - you checked the MPG that TMPGEnc had produced and it was also blank? If this is the case your encoder settings are obviously wrong or the source video is not recognised.

Its not too clear from your post - what is the input format - AVI? If so try running the AVI through VirtualDub with Direct Stream Copy for audio and video and save as a new AVI.

Post in one forum only. If you don't get a response in the basic forum chances are you won't get any more help in this one since the same group hangs in both.

In any case ALL problem posts are considered basic and belong there.
