some various bonehead questions about curve compression.

1. if alt. curve is off, and 0,0 is set, does payback delay really matter? (Iago's two-pass guide [and my gut] leads me to think not, but the doom9 XviD faq seems to disagree.)

2. if doing a linear scaled curve comp., what is the difference between bias and proportionately? My instinct is that this doesn't really matter either, but it could take 2 different paths through the encoder, with only the target result the same.

3. if using alt. curve, do the Two Pass tab Curve compression settings matter? I mean the payback stuff.

4. if using alt. curve, will I get more compression or more quality with a higher Strength setting? I've seen the graphic that is supposed to explain alt. curve, but I don't understand what I'm looking at.

BTW, I searched this forum for answers, just didn't find any. If this is a stupid-new-user's first post, so sorry.
