Hey all. I am having problems backing up my DVD's. This method used to work all the time, I would have no problems backing up DVD's. For some reason I can't get it to work anymore. Ok so what I usually do is run smart ripper or DVD decrypter with default settings, except I go to files section and select all. I then go to Nero for DVD5 movies, but for DVD9 movies I use IFO edit of course. I then just drag and drop all files from VIDEO_TS directory when running NERO DVD Video. This used to work with my older DVD's but now when I try to play these backups in my APEX dvd player I dont get anything. Nothing plays. Like I said before this used to work all the time, I dont know why but nothing seems to work. I burn successfully, check files which are identical to original DVD, when I put backup into my player... It just stops and does nothing. Cant access anything?!?!

I have read the guides for ripping/stripping/burning DVD's and still cant get it to work. Is there any setting in DVD Decrypter or smart ripper or even IFO edit that I should know about that has to be changed? Or better yet in NERO?

Thanks, any suggestions would help greatly...

You have to make sure that you make a "DVDROM(UDF)" disc in Nero rather that a DVD-Video. Also check that, under the UDF tab, its set to Physical Partition and UDF 1.02.

I don't know if this is fixed in 5.5.10.20 but I know DVD-Video has been broken since about 5.5.9.x - I haven't bothered trying as this method still works fine.

Hope this helps.

That would expain a lot. I know that NERO DVD-Video used to always work. I did in fact update NERO to the newest version and now it doesn't work. So you are saying to use DVDROM UDF to burn and that should work by dragging all contents into VIDEO_TS?

Thanks much for your help!!

Yes - just drag VIDEO_TS into Nero in the same way you were doing before. Only thing different is choose DVDROM(UDF) instead of DVD-Video.
