I have made about 75 movies on these Samsung BeAll disks and now when I finally go back and try to rip (even though there isn't copy protection) to ISO, I get an error.

It starts to rip at 2x and then at about 97% or 98%, the errors happen. Check Condition, can't read sectors, etc. Looks like the same error that occurs when a disk is scratched, even though these disks aren't.

The DVD-Rom being used is a Toshiba 1402. Actually I've tried it on 3 of these drives. A friend uses a Sony DVD-Rom and he can rip these BeAll disks fine.

The software being used is DVDDecryptor, while I can try another ripping app to see if it works, I think the problem is with these disks and the Toshiba drive. I have white top True 2x DVD-R from www.allemediaoutlet.com and they rip fine using the same combinations tried above. Just about every commercial DVD I attempted to rip also worked fine using this drive.

Anyone have similar problems with these BeAll disks or the Toshiba DVD-Rom drive?
Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Here is the latest:

I have changed CSS cracking to none and also tried ASPI instead of SPTI, still no luck. It stops at 97% with an error.

If I do a windows explorer copy, it works ok.

There is something wrong with the BeAll disks and the Toshiba 1402 DVD-Rom drive when used in DVDDecryptor. It's not the drive malfunctioning because I tried it in 3 of these drives.

LIGHTNING UK any suggestions?

Thanks.

Ive yet to find a dvdrom drive that reads the correct capacity of a dvd-r disc.
Chances are, its just trying to read beyond its physical end.

What is the 'Sense Area interpretation' of the error that comes up?

To get around the problem, simply read it in the burner.

Here is the error.

I/O Error!

Device: [1:0:0] Toshiba DVD-EOM SD-M1402 1010(E:)

ScsiStatus: 0x02
Interpretation: Check Condition

CDB: 28 00 00 22 4B 20 00 00 01 00
Interpretation: Read(10)-Sector:2247456

Sense Area: 70 00 03 00 00 00 00 0A 00 00 00 00 11 00
Interpretation: Unrecovered Read Error

You say if I put it in the burner it should work, well it also works in a Sony DVD-Rom. Why not the Toshiba DVD-Rom? And why not this media? The Samsung BeAll disks are supposed to be high quality. As I mentioned before it works with the allemedia True 2x media fine.

Thanks for your help.

Put the disc in the sony and move into ISO read mode.
Take note of the number of sectors on the disc and see if that error sector (2,247,456) is actually within the range.

Perhaps the Toshiba just doesnt like those discs. It happens!

I used Record Now Max to create a global image from the disk and it worked ok. DVDDecryptor seems to only have this problem with this particular drive and the BeAll disks. I own 3 of these Toshiba DVD-Rom drives and would hate to have to get another drive.

It doesn't appear to be the drive and these disks only, since it works fine from Record Now Max and during a windows explorer copy.

Is there anyway of fixing this in DVDDecryptor?

Thanks
