I have recently received a NEC ND1000A. While not the most desirable drive, I'm trying to experiment with burning DVD's until I get the Pioneer DVD-R.

The first question is with DVD Shrink. With Blade 2, I wanted to keep the DTS soundtrack, but it would have meant I would have to drop down to Level 3 by only 20MB. I already cut the credits. Is this a limitation with a more straightforward program like this. I'm new to all this, but with IC instead of dropping down a large step, could you go somewhere in between the preset levels in DVDShrink. It seems a waste that for 20MB I have to drop a whole level.

I just chose the regular DD track and created a Level 2 movie only set of files. It finished fine and I put all the files in a VIDEO_TS folder. I tried to use Nero, but I have no pull down menu to select DVD burning. When I run the drive info tool right out of the program folder, it sees my NEC drive fine. When in Nero I try to run the drive scan, it asks me to put in the disk, which I've lost, and quits the scan, so I can't select the drive to burn to.

I also tried DVD Decrypter, so first I used ImgTool to create an ISO, it kind of froze at the end ( finished, but I couldn't close the program ) and I had an ISO file. When I loaded it up in DVD Decrypter, it gave me an error that the Sector number, was not a multiple of the total file size, so I couldn't select it. The only thing I'm done that I question, is I deslected the subtitles in DVDShrink. I read somewhere that this may be bad? I used MrBass's guide, and it wasn't mentioned there.

Also, with the blank Media in the drive, when I selected the DVD burner in DVDDecrypt, it gave a weird and long address error, but then selected the drive. It just couldn't provide info on my blank DVD+RW disk.

ANy thoughts on any or all of this?

Thanks,

Ryan

sounds like a hardware issue to me..not sure though if Nero isn't showing your dvd burner.

Thanks Mr Bass. I did look through your site, its how I even tried the DVD Shrink process. The very first window in your NERO says "New Comilation", and right below that is the drop down box to select DVD. I don't even have that box. The version of Nero I "ahem" downloaded is 5.5.9.0. I noticed yours is 5.5.10, should I try and unistall it completely, remove my drive from the Windows system, and reboot and let the machine re-detect, and them reinstall Nero with the drive in place perhaps?

yes...get the latest version of Nero 5.5.10.20. Older versions of Nero might not even have support for your new NEC dvd burner.
