Scenarist is automatically selecting/hiliting random buttons in my menu.
I set forced-selected button to nonexistent becuase when the menu repeats I want the currently hilighted button to stay hilighted.
And now if I navigate to a "sub menu" the first button isn't selected, it always a different one on each menu.
Has anyone experienced this before?
Thanks for your help.

The reason this is happening because when you select a button from another sub menu you system parameter 8 remembers that highlight and button and selects it when you come pack to the menu. You need to solve this by setting highlight button and then link to the PGC. This way when you go back to the main menu it will highlight the button you want it to.

That's what I thought too, but it will select the second or third button on the submenu even on the first time I go to it.
And then when I go back to the main menu it will always select the third button even if I came from a different submenu.
When you said "You need to solve this by setting highlight button and then link to the PGC" do you mean that I set the hilight button in the button command of the main menu button.

there is a command that you can use called set highlight button and then you click the link pgc, and link to your main menu. Your button might always be highlighting button 3 becuase one of you commands might hvae it highlighting button 3. This is in a program command where you can set your button number, and this would be overriding all other button commands. Just find the command that is doing this and set it to 0 that way it doesnt set any button number and you can use your previous fix by setting highlight link PGC

Thanks, I wish it would just work the right way, but I guess this is an effective work-a-round.
I looked everywhere for a command that was making button 3 be hilighted on the main menu, but I couldn't find one anywhere - so I just used the same work-a-round and it's okay.
Thanks again.
I'm still trying to fully understand the "navigation structure" and where exactly to put menus and when/if to use any dummy pgcs. Would you happen to have a screen capture of your scenario editor I could take a look at (even if it's real basic)

because of confidentiality problems I can not send you any screen grabs of my scenarios, but I will try to help you out if you have any other questions.
I am sorry
Thanks,

Thanks anyway,
I'm still wondering if it's better to put menus in the language folder of the Video Manager or in the language folder of the first VTS. Is there advantages/disadvantages to either.
Also which UOPs should I prohibit on menus.
I really appreciate your help, thanks.

If you use the video manager for yoru place of your menus there there are things you can't take advantage of. I personally wouldn't recomend it, but I guess it woudlnt' hurt too much other than you are only allowed one subpicture and one audio clip. If that is a problem then just stay in yoru menu domain of a VTS. Also the Video manager is limited in space too.
