I understand how to control the UOPs in Scenarist and why I would want to. But does anyone have a list of "english" explanations of what each of them actually mean because some of the names aren't very descriptive.
Does anyone know which UOPs are prohibited on most commercial DVD titles.
Thanks

that actually varies from PGC to PGC, the intro logo is usually set so you can do nothing, whilst others will let you do almost everything.

Do you know which UOPs are prohibited for menus?

Off the top of my head, the UOPs that are disabled for menus are the ones that involve scanning forward and backward, as well as the next, previous pgc; also the change subpicture one should be disabled. Sorry I don't know the numbers offhand, but generally be sure to disable any function that could allow the user to move anywhere on the disc aside from another menu, unless you have a defined next/prev pgc structure.
Hope this helps,
Dan
If you can't find the numbers for these UOPs, just say so, and I'll [or someone else] will dig them out.

Thanks.
Is there a list anywhere that has all of the UOPs functions, describing what each of them do. Some of them are obvious but there are also some of them that are misleading.

Get a hold of the book "DVD Authoring and Production" by Ralph LaBarge. Go to Chapter 6 - pages 216 thru 220 have description for each UOP.

Go to the Scenario-Editor where you put your track(s) into the Title-Set. Then double-click on the Title or the PGC which brings up its properties in the lower middle part of the Scenarist-Window. There you'll find the UOP settings. When you double-click on a PGC you've got to scroll down a little bit but then there it is.
