Hi!

I am considering purchasing a DVD-?+RW for my PC. I have heard rumors about some problems with the systems. A friend of mine sometimes burns a DVD and the same DVD-R cannot read the disk it has burned. Are there any problems like these or are DVD-RWs as safe as CD-RW are today? Aslo I am not sure whether to get DVD-R or DVD+R. Iwill be burning both data archives and videos.

Could anybody kindly advice me,please?

Thanks a lot in advance :-)

As far as choosing between DVD-R vs DVD+R just pick the format that you and your friends/families/clients DVD players can playback. My personal prefrence is for DVD-R/RW writers.

You only have read back issues like you described if you use stupidly cheap discs. Do a little research on forums before you go out buying blank DVD's in bulk.

Yes DVD-RW are as safe as CDRW's.

If you have the money, I suggest you get a dual drive like the Sony DRU500. It supports all DVD recordable/rewritable formats except -RAM.
